The Tuscan region has been for a long time an inspiration to many architects and artists. One of the first impressions you will have once you step into this fairytale-like place is that the traditions genuine to the area have been well preserved as well as the presence of great appreciation for art, cuisine, wine-making and traditional craftsmanship.
You can choose to spend an afternoon or maybe several ones, depending on what your preferences may be. There are many ways in which to start your day at Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco and they are all as equally fine and compelling.
You could start with a tour of the vineyards as it is something very unique to this estate, followed by wine tasting in one of the leading Brunello di Montalcino wineries. If you happen to visit during the harvest you can even give a hand with grape picking if you like. Immerse yourself into the world of Tuscan wine and the historic winery of Castiglion del Bosco which produces the elegant, deep red, complex and intense Brunello di Montalcino. Explore the cellars and the art of winemaking following each and every step of the process from grape to barrel. With an expert guide, you will visit the vineyards, cellar and an ageing room which will lead you to discover just how much attention to the detail have been required and put into the winemaking process.
The visit to the vineyards will have you walking through the sensational Cappana vineyard that harbours, in a unique microclimate and nourishing soil, Sangiovese Grosso grape for Brunello di Montalcino. The fascinating cellars hold the wines that age in French oak barrels and reveal the marvellous atmosphere of the exclusive “Member's Cellar”. Finally, as part of your wine tasting experience, you will be served with six of the finest wines together with a fine selection of Tuscan cheeses, fresh bread, their own extra virgin olive oil and honey. On the other hand, if you are a golf enthusiast then get started on the golf course before wine tasting. This is Italy’s only private golf club and it will be one of the most breathtaking 18-hole course you have seen.
For your fine dining experience, you can choose between the two restaurants, both with a remarkable terrace view at the estate, which harvest their vegetables from an organic vegetable and herb garden. One of the restaurants “Osteria La Canonica” is set in the old priest’s house and has a more relaxed ambient that serves light Italian dishes all day long starting noon. The other one “Ristorante Campo del Drago” is outstanding at Italian fine dining, serving rich Tuscan classics. If the vegetable and herb garden got you inspired there is a cooking class on offer that will be a really unique experience to learn the secrets of Italian cuisine.
A carefully curated selection of activities has been designed to bring you as much pleasure as possible while spending your time in Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco and one of those which holds a special essence in pampering and relaxing in their signature SPA centre.
